A dedicated functional potter for 25 years, I have also been drawn
to photography.
My long search for a way to join
these two passions culminated,
in 2001, in the creation of these thin,
layered clay slabs, carved in relief
and stained to mirror the images
in my photographs.
Called "photo-realistic bas relief",
the pieces explore the zone
between two and three dimensions.
For example, I have always been fascinated by passages, archways and distance, and the sense of
possibility and mystery
they provoke.
