I call this fish "Salmon Dream, Salmon Nightmare." This 5 foot fiberglass fish represents two new mediums. I sculpted with a stiff, two-part epoxy, then painted with acrylics. The fish was then sprayed with an auto-body clear coat. "Salmon Dreams" illustrates the lives of a river; with a dam and flowing free, in two diverse ecosystems.

My two-sided salmon was part of Western Rivers Conservancy's Salmon for the Sandy to celebrate the dam removal on the Sandy river. Portland General Electric is removing two dams and contributing land for a new 5,000-acre natural resource and recreation area along the Sandy river. Artists were selected to paint and decorate 33 salmon sculptures. After their summer migration around Portland and the region, the salmon will return home to be auctioned, October 24 at the Portland Art Museum to benefit the restoration activities of the Sandy River Basin Watershed Council.
