l always think of myself first as a functional potter. I fill the spaces in my kiln between the relief shelves with bowls, platters, vases, candlesticks, trays and other wheel thrown dinnerware. I love throwing and it is perfect foil for the intense concentration and exactness required for the reliefs. I use a white stoneware and fire to cone 6 (2150°) reduction, working with simple forms and unadorned, saturated colors.
